Everyone is happy when the two Styrian athletes pay a visit to LTE in Graz or at the headquarters in Gramatneusiedl. It is also always a pleasure when the long-standing partners confirm their friendly and cooperative relationship at the end of the year. "Despite the increased public awareness, beach volleyball is still a fringe sport and that's why we primarily depend on the support of our sponsors," the two say, "because without their commitment, funding our numerous trips to tournaments around the world would be very unlikely. Thankfully, the LTE-group is one of our most important comrades-in-arms.”
And it's actually a win-win relationship. It all started a few years ago at the Frauental outdoor pool, where this new friendship was initiated by a bath towel in LTE design. And today the two look back on 2022 and their most intense tournament year. "There are always ups and downs: After months of injuries, when we could hardly play together, we now had a season in which we played two to three tournaments a month on average," the two look back. It started last winter, with challenging trainings and then they travelled through Europe and adding South America and the Maldives, almost around the world. Broken down to bare numbers, their commitment bore fruit. "We started the year placed 70th in the world rankings, today we are 40th." In Vienna, a personal highlight last summer, they experienced their triumph as "hosts" on the court - quite successfully competing with the top players.
Therefore there will not be extensive breaks during this winter. In addition to the sports halls in Vienna and Graz, open-air training camps, for example in Brazil at the Copa Cabana are already scheduled at the beginning of 2023, so that - in addition to the World Cup - their dream may come true: participation at the next Olympic Games.
